Due Date plus 4: The Calm Before the Storm

June 25, 2011

Today felt very mundane.  It was not a boring day but not a particularly interesting day either. Except for one major detail, today is the type of day that when people ask you what you did, you are supposed to tell them “not much.”  Too recap, we woke up and ate some breakfast while reading the morning paper.  We then took a walk by the east river, I went to the gym, we watched a few episodes of Damages (I am shocked to say this but Glenn Close rocks), part of the Mets game (the Mets actually scored 14 runs), and discussed whether tonight was going to be a pasta night (it is).  And, oh yeah my wife suffered through a number of contractions.  The contractions are not getting the baby out but they are slowly torturing my wife.  If the contractions were being used to extract information out of my wife she would have already confessed to being a terrorist and being responsible for the deaths of Tupac and Biggie.  Overall, there is still a certain calmness about today.

Our lives are about to get crazy. They are about to change in a most dramatic way. My wife is more anxious than I am as she is going through a lot more than I am right now. I have a calm sense of disbelief that we are about to become parents. The baby storm is about to begin. I believe tomorrow is the day.
